CD Release-Party Watt
We had an amazing time at our cd release party on October 10th in Watt, Rotterdam. You guys were awesome! We talked to loads of people (sorry, we didn’t get the chance to talk to many of you also, unfortunately, due to the huge crowd) and woke up the next day with a tongue of sheep-leather ;)
The response to the cd and the release party we got afterwards via e-mail and our websites, is really terrific. Unfortunately, we can’t thank everyone in person, but know that you guys are the reason we do this: thanx!
By the way, the photos taken at the release party and last weekend’s gig with the Earring at the Zeelandhallen are online. Check them out at Flickr photo account or other websites. They’re definitely worth viewing!
First short updates:
• we entered the national album top 100 charts at 82

• yesterday we entered the Kink top 40 at 29
• November 20th we’ll be playing live @ Giel Beelen, 3FM, National Radio.
• 12 December we are Golden Earrings support act at the Heineken Music Hall. Right afterwards we’ll jump in the car to go to the Melkweg where we’ll perform in the Finale of the "Grote Prijs of NL" (Holland's biggest band competition)

Our new single "Shadowcast", taken from our second new CD "Hedges against the Night" will be released on September 14th on national radio and TV. Recorded in the USA, produced by Erwin Musper (e.g. Bon Jovi, Metallica, Anouk). We're incredibly proud of course!
For abroad, the single will be downloadable via I-Tunes as of next week.

Naturally we want to make it to the finals, which will be held in 'Paradiso' or the 'Melkweg'. Last time we were last to play, so this time we get to play at 21.00 h. This autumn: Touring with the legendary Golden Earring!
After our amazing gig with the Golden Earring last June, we've been asked to perform as support act at the Golden Earring concerts this fall. We're incredibly honoured of course, and we're playing some big ass places like f.i. the Heineken Music Hall, Zeelandhallen, 013 a.m.m. (check "Gigs" on thenewshining.com). This Friday we're in Arnhem at the Rijnhal (21-22 h)

This autumn: TNS in "Popronde", touring through Holland.
Check "Gigs" on our website to see if we'll be playing near you, and if so: come over and check us out! For example, we'll be playing in the Rijnhal, Arnhem with the Golden Earring tonight, after which we'll drive to Nijmegen to play at the Opera at 24.00 h.
September 19th we'll be in Zwolle and October 9th in Ekko Utrecht on the 3FM Serious Talent stage.
We'll try to keep the info in the next newsletter to a minimum, but there's a lot going on. But we'll try not to overwhelm you guys. Possibly a couple of newsletters will follow each other at a quicker pace, but that's only temporary.
We'd love to see you at the release party on October 10th (all of Rotterdam will be plastered with posters by then, so you can't miss it) and September 12th in Delft for the Grote Prijs. THE NEW SHINING RECORDING NEW CD IN CINCINNATI, USA, WITH TOPPRODUCER ERWIN MUSPER
Hi!
Just a quick heads-up: from the 16th till the 26th of April we're going to Cincinnati, USA, to record our new CD.
The past time we used to write new songs and select the best tracks.
Together with the legendary topproducer Erwin Muspers (known from Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Metallica, David Bowie, Scorpions) we'll be laying down these new tracks.
A part of it will be done in the US and a part of it in the Netherlands. End of May we expect to have finished everything.
Until then, we focus completely on making a great new record. Obviously, we're very excited!
We'll be doing one last gig before we're heading out to the States: today we'll be playing together with the Finnish rockband Negative at the Effenaar (Eindhoven).
Up next are the cd recordings and the 6th of June will be our first gig since the studio with the Golden Earring at Strijen open air.
We hope to see you all tonight at the Effenaar for one helluva rocking night!

The [New] Shining working on new tracks for 2nd CD 'Leap of Faith'
At this moment the 3 members of The [New] Shining are working like crazy to finish the 16 brand-new tracks for their second album, carrying the temporary title 'Leap of Faith', on time. If everything will go as planned, the band will be recording their new album end of March 2009. At this point the band is keeping contact with several well-known producers. Who, eventually, will mix and produce the CD will be known beginning of 2009.
Also, The New Shining is negotiating with a renowned German Music agency. Soon more about all this in the next TNS news mailing. In addition to this the band has been approached to play over in Canada, Germany and Sweden. We'll definitely keep you posted on that!

'Red Eyes', the 2nd single of the Dutch rock band The New Shining, has been selected out of numerous submissions and is featuring on BUMA's Dutch Pop 2009 compilation CD, along with bands like Racoon, Pete Philly, Direct, Zuco 103, A Balladeer, Room Eleven a.o. This CD will be used to represent Dutch pop music abroad among other things. A huge honour!

After a busy and exciting summer, we’re very proud to present our new single and video: Red Eyes!
A month prior to the release on our home turf, Red Eyes has already hit nr. 1 spots in Alternative Charts across the U.S., Australia, Spain and other countries. Red Eyes has also been chosen as best 2nd single by our Hyves-friends, so there was no doubt which song to pick... Holland, get ready...
Most of you probably know the song Red Eyes because it is also featuring on our debut-album Supernatural Showdown, but we had it remixed into a special single version for radio and TV purposes. So there’s a brand new version available.

The Red Eyes video has been developed in New York, USA, by the Free Radical studios.
This well known animation company has produced an awesome clip for us. Their special way of developing animations turned out to be a perfect fit for the Red Eyes video. You might recognize some of the “actors” ;)
Starting september 12th the video will be featuring as “clip of the week” on Myspace. This is your first chance to check it out!
Of course it will also be availble on other platforms, such as Youtube and Hyves soon.

Hey guys!
A lot has happened these past few weeks. The video for our brand-new single “Temptation” has already been shot and is currently being processed by the guys of airrebels.com.
We just got to see a sneak preview and we can honestly say it’s gonna be so incredibly awesome!!! We really can’t wait to show it to you guys.. The video will most likely be available on YouTube around the 21st of March, so see keep an eye out for it at http://nl.youtube.com/user/TheNewShining.
Next 21st of March our single “Temptation” will officially be released and will be digitally available all over the world. We hope it will be played a lot at our favorite radio-stations. At the same time our video will most likely be released at MTV, TMF and YouTube for sure and of course we hope you guys will enjoy it as much as we do and help us to get the word out! We totally rely on your good will.
Downloading our single “Temptation” (legally) will put us on the charts so we hope you guys will do just that. The links to these legal downloads will be available shortly, we’ll keep you updated on that through our site and mail.
On the 18th of April, our full album: “Supernatural Showdown”, will finally be released. The moment we’ve all been waiting for for so long will finally become reality. Hey guys!
Finally! We’re very proud n pleased to announce we’ve signed a record deal with FLOW Records and a smashing management- and bookingsdeal with White Mountain Management! (known from Moke, Pete Philly, Kraak en Smaak and many others)
Januari 21st, in a city called Hilversum, we’ve entrusted our names to “the paper”.. ;)
Now, it’s time to get this show on the road!
Obviously, we’re über thrilled and excited!
The official press-release will be next week.
In the mean time we’re real busy making all kinds of preparations.
We intend to release our single “Temptation” halfway March together with an awesome music video, like it should :)
We are currently working on this video clip with one of Holland’s hottest producers and we promise you that the outcome will be amazing!
The next step will be the release of our CD:”Supernatural Showdown”. The release of our album is planned for the second half of April. You better believe there will be a big release-party to celebrate the release of the album and to kick off the album-supporting tour.
We will keep you informed on the exact date and location of this release-party and upcoming tour dates on our sites and in following newsletters.

The latest TNS heads up. For starters: this next Sunday 16 Sept between 18-20 hours we’ll be playing live on national radio @ 3FM!! Extremely cool obviously, so don’t miss it!
These past 3 weeks we’ve been frequently played @ 3FM, needless to say we’re very pleased with that. :-) (people in The Netherlands: by text messaging to 3333 you can also ask the dj to play “Temptation” by The [New] Shining, any time of the day, just try it!)
By the way, thanx everybody present at our latest show. It was pretty awesome, hot n sweaty and completely sold out ..just the way we like it! :-) Especially a big “Cheers” to the people from the far ends of the country that came to see us play!

The latest news concerns a German release of 50 songs from great artists all over the world. One of our earlier songs called “Linger On” features on this “Dopamin3 USB” release. This release will be distributed throughout the whole of Germany, but is, as of now, also available online! How to order this unique, one of a kind Flash Drive you say ;) ? It’s real simple. Click this link then click “in den Warenkorb” (put in basket), then go to “Check Out” on the left side of the same page (where it says “Shop order”), fill out the form and you’re good to go! Just remember, “Linger On” has never been released officially and will not appear on our debut CD, so by buying this USB release you got yourself a real collector’s item! :-)

Hey guys!
Finally, after months of hard labour we finished our The [New] Shining debut album: "Supernatural Showdown"!
It hasn’t been easy, but we’re very pleased with the outcome.
The album sounds and rocks like a million dollars, so to speak ;), needless to say we’re looking forward to what you guys think of the new stuff!
All in all, it has taken a bit longer than we at first intended.
The SyCo studio in Friesland was, unfortunately, unable to mix our album, but luckily for us we ended up with Oscar Holleman.
Oscar (of Within Temptation, Nailpin, de Heideroosjes among many others) has done a tremendous job!
We are so very proud and grateful he took the job and went the extra mile for us.
Halfway the mixing-process Oscar became severely ill and was hospitalized for quite some time.
Fortunately for us Frans Vermast and CJ of Oscar’s studio helped us out and finished the job where Oscar’d left off.
Obviously all this resulted in some considerable delay and gave us quite a few thrills along the way, but the main thing remains: our album is finished and rocks like crazy!
At this very moment, record-companies are being contacted and we hope to get hold of a great deal, obviously..
So, still a couple of exciting days ahead for us…
Since it always takes a little time before an album hits the stores or before you’re able to purchase/download it on/from the internet, we already put a few samples of the new album on ourmyspace.
So this way you get a pre-taste of what to expect (keep in mind these samples have a lower sound-quality but this is something Myspace does by itself; we have no control over it).

Till the official release of our debut cd, which will be some time at the beginning of 2007, we'll refresh track 4 in the myspace-player every week with a "new" song(!), to make the waiting on our cd a bit more bearable for you guys ;-).
These "new" songs will not appear on our debut cd, but are actually the ones that, unfortunately, didn't make it, for whatever reasons. But it'll give you something to listen to in the mean time :-)

Hey everybody!
We’ve been off the air for a while, sorry for that, but behind the scenes these have been (and still are) crazy times for us. Time to let you in on the latest news....
Remember how fast and smooth we recorded the 15 songs this summer? Well, it seems we now find ourselves on the bumpy end of the road…: the mixing of those 15 tracks. Our yellow brick road has finally turned into the Via Dolorosa..
Like said before, we intended to finish the cd last October. Well.., that didn’t happen, unfortunately.
Luckily for us the CD booklet and artwork are as good as finished and turn out to be really amazing! We had the privilege to work with upcoming designer talent Perry Kroll from New York City. Perry has really outdone himself this time. We can't wait to show you the outcome!!
Meanwhile we’ve printed stickers with our official TNS logo on them. They too are a real treat for the eyes :-)
These stickers will be used at gigs and for promotional purposes.
In short, we’re set and ready to go, but the waiting is on our cd’s mixdown.
So what’s causing the delay?
To put it briefly, without boring you with the details and technicalities:
The SyCo-studios are (unfortunately) not able to fully bring out the big, warm and heavy qualities in our music that makes our music special.
This is for sure a big disappointment for the studio as well as the band, but the positive thing is that the individual track recordings are high quality and can/will be used for the album.
As soon as we realized that the mixing and postproduction wasn’t going to work out as we hoped it would, we had to start looking for a producer/mixer that could get the job done and on short notice. Well…that’s easier said than done! But after some communication back and forth we found Oscar Holleman willing to take on this challenge ánd on short notice!!!
Like maybe most of you know, Oscar Holleman is one of the leading top producers around at the moment. He worked with bands like: Within Temptation, Gorefest, Nailpin, Heideroosjes, Krezip and many others.
So you can imagine how thrilled we are having Oscar mixing our songs! He’s got a lot of experience with producing and mixing heavy bands. So this cd is gonna rock and kick some major butt for sure!!
..It does ease the pain a bit..:-)
Oscar is hoping to start mixing the first 3 songs at the start of December. Why 3 songs? Well a top producer expects top dollar for his work, so it's financially best to produce our three best songs first, so we can use those songs to attract recordlabels/sponsers who are willing to invest money for the other songs. We intend to find an investor soon so Oscar can start mixing the other songs as soon as possible.
It’s not making things any easier for us..that much is true ….but we’re getting used to that by now..this too is part of RocknRoll…you might say this is what R&R is all about..
This news may help you understand why things are a little quiet on the website lately. But know this, though on the outside it may seem a bit quiet at times, behind the scenes it's a freakin’ madhouse! Don’t you worry :-)
So, now you know the whole story. As soon as this has all been settled, we'll pick up playing gigs right where we left off, promise. We're locked and loaded after all this bullshit! :-)

Hey Guys!
Back from the trenches. These last few weeks we’ve been pretty busy: in 19, 20 days (with short breaks) of studio time we’ve recorded 15 songs for our brand-new debut-album. But before we get into that, first some other hot news …
After some long, careful consideration we’ve decided to change the name of the band..
From now on Dinos4Dinner will be known as: "The New Shining”, or in short: TNS. Shock?!!! :-)
Why? Well, mainly because of two reasons. Over time we felt like we had to explain we’re not a happy punk band just a few too many times. Though we don’t dislike punk rock, far from it(!), we noticed that people who are not familiar with us yet, too many times associate the name of the band with punk rock or something along those lines.. And well, we’re not too thrilled about that, cuz it puts us in a place we don’t really belong .. At the same time, we strongly felt the name did no longer represent our musical direction anymore.
As said before, after careful consideration we soon came up with:
“The New Shining”. This name feels so much better to us, cuz we all think it connects much better with who we are and the kind of music we make.
So why now? When you decide to do something drastic like this, there’s almost no better time conceivable, then doing this at the same time while releasing your brand-new debut album. Makes sense, right? :-)
Some of you may not find it a change for the better. Well, we’re cool with that, you just can’t please everybody.. Like a fine wine, it may take some time getting used to! ;-)
So get the word out, make sure everybody knows about it!!

Now back to the news about the debut-album. All tracks of the 15 TNS songs that will feature on the debut-album have successfully been recorded! Such wonderful feeling.. Mixing, processing and mastering will, give and take, another two months. Once this is done, the album will be available on short notice. It’s gonna be so sweet, you better believe it baby!
Distribution will be done by either an interested record-label or by the “TNS”-team itself. Anyways, “The New Shining” will make sure the album will be available one way or another, no question. Obviously we need you guys more than ever to make it a massive hit!!
We had a great time recording the album with Nico (Outhuijse, producer) at the Syco Studios. He’s done a great job and we’re very pleased with the outcome so far. Therefore we are more than confident that post-production will be awesome also.
Syb (van der Ploeg) will be helping us as out as well in the future, we’ll keep you posted on that one..
The exact date of the album-release has not been set yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as possible. We’ll also keep you posted on the next album-supporting gigs.

TNS HITS THE STUDIO!!! (placed: 30/06/2006)
Hi Guys!
Recent times have been pretty busy for us, but the efforts have paid off: TNS is proud to announce that the debut album is now in the making!!!
Thanks to our enthusiastic and generous sponsor, UCS (www.ucs.nl), it is now possible to record a full album (instead of the promised 4-track mini-album) consisting of 13 songs. This will be done in a pro-studio supported by some of the best producers in the Netherlands. How about that?
Our research on producers and studios capable of capturing the true TNS-sound ended up in the city of Leeuwarden, capitol of the Dutch province of Friesland. Why? Because the awesome studio of Nico Outhuijse en Syb van der Ploeg is situated there! Do those names sound familiar? Of course, these guys are the backbone of the very successful Dutch band “De Kast”.
Although this band no longer exists, Nico and Syb decided to stay active in the Dutch music scene and founded the renowned SyCo Studios. Now you might think that the smooth pop music that Syb and Nico wrote and played with “De Kast” has nothing do with the heavy rock sound of TNS, well, you are wrong.. Besides “De Kast” these guys were involved in many heavy sounding projects like the band ”Spanner”. If you need proof, let the following sites convince you: www.sycostudio.nl and www.spanner-music.nl .
So thanks to UCS and SyCo Studios, we are now preparing to hit the studios with Syb and Nico as main producers. We will kick off on the 3rd of July (yes, that’s next Monday) by laying those drum and bass tracks down. This will take approx. 9 days, after which we will take a short break to prepare for the guitar and vocal tracks. It’s hard to say an exact data on which the album will be completed, but we will make it as soon as possible… As soon as it’s done, the album will be available, distributed by either the D4D-team or a record label.
We got some more good news for ya: graphic-design prodigy Perry Kroll from New York City, USA, will be designing the album cover (www.perrykroll.com). This young upcoming designer has already earned his credits in design/art/movie-industries in the USA and will start his European adventure with the D4D-albumdesign, so hold on to your hats!
Lastly we want to announce that we have terminated our management-contract with House of the Stars. We are taking matters into our own hands, at least for now.
During the recording-process we will post photo’s, clips, announcements, etc on the website so stay tuned!
